27 December 2017. Tata Steel is waiting for a permit from Odisha’s state pollution control board to expand capacity at its Khandabandh iron ore mines in eastern India from 1 million tonnes per annum to 5 million tonnes per annum. This is according to a report by the Business Standard, which also says that Tata is planning to send all the product from its captive mines at Joda East and Noamundi to its Kalinganagar plant.
