China’s Shenhua Group, the country’s largest coal producer, inked a USD 10 billion contract with Russia’s Rostec to develop coal deposits in Siberia and the Far East of Russia, another sign that energy cooperation between the two countries is gathering momentum as Russia’s relations with the US and Europe sour over the crisis in Ukraine.
8 September 2014. The Ndola Energy Company has embarked on the construction of a 50 mega watts power plant to mitigate electricity shortages in the country. The proposed project cost is estimated at US$50 million.

7 September 2014. A solar power station opened Thursday in Siberia's Altai republic has become the biggest facility of its kind in Russia. The Kosh-Agachskaya plant, which has a capacity of 5 megawatts (MW), will be the first of five solar power facilities to open in the region by 2019.

7 September 2014. The ambitious Rs 30,000 crores power project at Karchana for producing 2,640 mw of electricity was conceptualised in 2007. After competitive bidding, Prayagraj Power Generation Company Limited (PPGCL) was awarded the work for designing, constructing and operating the power plant of 2,640 mw project, having three units of power generation.
