29 June 2014. Russia's Rosneft and America's ExxonMobil have launched a unique drilling platform in the Okhotsk Sea in Russia's Far East. The world's most powerful rig can drill within the radius of at least 7 kilometers.
The rig is called Berkut or golden eagle and was designed to work in harsh subarctic conditions.
27 June 2014. El Hierro Island, in the Spanish Canary Islands, is a little island with 10,000 inhabitants. Today open in the island a pumped storage scheme fueled at last by wind energy. This technological combination storages energy generated by wind turbines in a reservoir lake with a hydro turbine that supplies energy when is required.
This interesting system makes El Hierro island free from oil pollution and crude oil dependency. Today El Hierro becomes 100% renewable energy fueled for electricity generation.
